402 Sustainable Design

Development and realisation of an advanced sustainable design project.

MEET in 10B12a [Vis Lab] at 9.30am on Monday the 20th of June.

——————————————————————————————————————-

FRIDAY: Tutorial: Have your site analysis and design work ready to discuss, as well as examples of precedents

SPATIAL FOLDER: I’ve loaded up some site analysis [site measures] images to the folder – include information on what matters to you about the site: the site measure can be a film, drawing, series of sketches with data embedded, a collection of matter from the site etc… Use the language developed in your site analysis to help you develop a visual language for your design drawings.

If a drawing include plan, section; sketches; embodied experience [ the sounds, smell of salt from sea, wind, shadow and sun, number of footsteps it takes to get from one end of park to the other...!]; include hard data on wind, sun, topography, history; include photos etc.

SITE NOTES:

_Develop your design so that it captures the ‘beach’-side quality of the site: perhaps through inclusion of shells into concrete mix, through undulating ground surfaces that recall the dunes that were in that area etc

_Eco-corridor: Consider including a continous line of native plantings that can form an eco-corridor for birdlife and insects. Appropriate native plants may include the Northern Rata, and the pingao [ground cover grass].
