204 Design for Performance 1+2
Students work on assignments that explore the processes of designing sets and costumes for theatre/film scripts, as well as examining broader performance practises. There is opportunity to expand this study into the second delivery of this paper 224.304 Design For Performance II in subsequent years. In this paper students are interned with performance projects in Wellington.
Previous internships have worked with choreographer Malia Johnstone (WOW), media artist Robert Appierdo (Storybox), The Playground Collective (at BATS Theatre), and Sam Trubridge’s new work Ecology in Fifths. Students from both levels have participated in The Performance Arcade, an annual performance project on Wellington Waterfront.
Students from 224.204 contributed to works within the 2011 Performance Arcade, including Cooking Class (Margarita Ianev), Catharsis (Ana McGowan-Brophy), Extraction II (Lucia Lie), and Body of Work: Venus (Briedi McCrostie).
The first class for 224.204 Design For Performance 1 and 224.304 Design For Performance II will be on Tuesday July 19th at 12.30pm in 10B12A.
